How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying
Synopsis
"How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" is a 1960's musical of the corporate shark's climb to the top of the business world in as a short time as possible. J. Pierrepont Finch is a ambitious window washer who sees and seizes his chance when he happens to purchase a book simple called "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying". He suddenly finds himself in the foyer of the World Wide Wickets Company. Instead f cleaning its windows, he quickly decides that its the RIGHT COMPANY! Along the way, he meets the sensible and uplifting career woman, Rosemary Pilkington, her friend Smitty, and the bombastic, overbearing, domineering (but with a heart of gold) boos, J.B. Biggley; the Man with a Dark Secret. Of course, life at World Wide Wickets would not be complete without the sniveling, conniving, contemptible boss's nephew, Bud Frump, who NEVER runs to his mother when things don't go his way! If anybody is going to prevent Point from getting to the top, Bud will! Along the way, Ponty has a brilliant idea for selling the company-literally-to the outside world, which is almost a disaster, despite the presence of one Hedy La Rue, the personal 'friend' of J.B. Biggley as the Treasure Girl. But no, SHE's not J.B.'s Dark Secret! But Ponty perseveres, reaches the top, and the last we hear, is the telephone dialing the White House... Performances
The show was performed at the Preston Creative Living Centre over one week in July of 1997.
